In the offline world, you may have a leading product and command a lot of respect and influence within your industry; however, that doesn’t necessarily mean that respect and following will automatically translate in the online world. Most often then not, you have to gain and build your online reputation and respect the same way you would have to offline, though time and work.
Here are some ways to earn that respect.
Learn the lingo. You may call your products one thing and refer to what they do or how they perform in a specific way. Your audience has no clue about what jargon your company or industry uses. They refer to it in a way that is most comfortable to them. It works by word of mouth from person to person first, then it travels to the Internet.
Understand by listening. There’s a difference between hearing and listening. Listening involves comprehension and understanding what the other person is saying. Listening gets you beyond the surface of “hearing”; you can get to the audience’s pain point and what’s most important to them.
