Marketing through a mobile device has picked up rapidly lately. However, mobile marketing can refer to one of two different categories. First, the most recently emerging category would be marketing though mobile cell phone devices. SMS and mobile email have paved way for a new category of mobile marketing.
Secondly, mobile marketing can traditionally be categorized as any type of marketing that is not stationary, such as moving billboards, flying messaging, and other such types. These types of mobile marketing have taken back seat to more emerging technologies like SMS mobile marketing.

Social media is new, and like everything new there is criticism about it’s legitimacy. A lot of people advocate against social media, claiming it is simply a flute. Since social media is often tied to a younger generation, often thought as simply kids; however, these ‘kids’ are apart of a generation that has accepted and adopted social media.
One thing that should be realized about social media is that even though those consuming it may still be young, they are opening an opportunity to market in a new way that is much different than before. By investing into social media now, you keep your business alive for the next 10 years by creating a social media presence early.
Even if social media doesn’t take out as expected, you are still diversifying your marketing mix. At the very least, you will will be able to grab a larger reach through social media. Also, by investing now, you will be doing so at a cheaper cost.
